NZOUG Conference 2008 Day 1 Wrapup

With a welcome return to the beautiful surroundings of Rotorua, the NZOUG Conference 2008 kicked off. First up attendees were treated with dancing kiwi's, light effects and a fantastic keynote presentation from Oracle's Callum Ross focusing on their principle strategy of "Complete. Open. Integrated".

The excellent lineup of speakers during the day meant plenty of circles appeared around the sessions on the attendee's pocket agendas. Many of the speakers were getting rave reviews from attendees and the speakers were dishing out plenty of top tips from PL/SQL Performance to Business Intelligence explanations to hands-on APEX training.

Following up from the "work" during the day, attendees were transferred to Roturua Gondola and Luge where the Luge Ride challenge and associated hijinx drove up the excitement and fun. After a few mishaps, and a short ride down the Scenic Track, a delicious buffet dinner was served under the watch of the clear Rotorua nightsky, and pine trees. Entertainment got those brains ticking over again with "The Bollocks" team taking out the quiz challenge.
