This session aims to provide DBAs some practical understanding and best practices of configuration which go beyond the traditional RAC installation steps. It will focus on the network configuration such as virtual IP, SCAN IP and the private interconnect and the shared storage configuration for OCR/votingdisk, ACFS and RAC database files using ASM. The presentation cover some experiences/tips for managing clusterware and troubleshooting clusterware issues such as node eviction and how some useful diagnostic tools help for the root cause analysis. Presented in Oracle OpenWorld 2010 Asia in December 2010.

Kai Yu is the lead Oracle Solutions engineer & architect in Dell Oracle Solutions Engineering lab since 2006 where Kai architects various Oracle solutions and helps customers on implementation. Kai’s expertise areas include Oracle RAC, Oracle Grid, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle VM. Kai was a senior Oracle DBA and Oracle Applications DBA for Dell IT and other companies in 1995-2006. Kai has published more than ten Oracle whitepapers and gave numerous technical presentations at Oracle OpenWorld 06/07/08/09 and Collaborate 08/09/10 and Webcasts. Kai serves as the president of IOUG Oracle RAC SIG and serviced the IOUG Collaborate 09 conference committee and is the IOUG Oracle RAC Tuning BootCamp owner at Collaborate 10.
