Over the past year or so, Java has seen frequent proclamations of its demise, controversies, lawsuits, buzz about new announcements like JDK 7... There’s optimism from some quarters about Oracle’s intent & ability to lead Java along with mistrust from others. So its been a rather confusing year. In this talk I will try to provide an independent perspective on where we are with Java today and where we could be tomorrow. We will look at the technologies that hold promise and touch on topics like Oracle’s leadership, Open Source & Java, Java's growth in the enterprise & mobile software market esp. Android, Java RIA & impact of Cloud Computing. The session will discuss how Javaites need to adapt & evolve so as to ride the wave of change sweeping Java land.
