WebLogic Server and Java Extreme Performance Workshop

Starts:
Wednesday, 27 February 2013 - 8:30am
Ends:
Wednesday, 27 February 2013 - 5:00pm
Location:
Cliftons Wellington, Level 28, The Majestic Centre, 100 Willis Street
Presenter:
Oracle
Body:

This workshop will provide experienced WebLogic and Java practitioners more information on advanced performance tuning and optimization practices, approaches, considerations, as well as insider tips, through deep-dive topics and demo show cases. It introduces technical stakeholders to key issues and considerations that need to be taken into account when producing an optimized set of options for a given application. This may be at the WebLogic Server level or its underlying Java Virtual Machine level on all supported runtime platforms.

Register now for this FREE event. Key content and takeaway from this workshop include:

-    Java Virtual Machine serves as the foundational technology for Oracle WebLogic Server and a broad spectrum of Oracle's Fusion Middleware products. We will walk you through the guts of the virtual machine for Oracle's JRockit and IBM JVMs. We will also discuss the functionality of key virtual machine components, including garbage collector, just-in-time compiler and class libraries
-    Oracle and IBM JVMs offer different garbage collection (GC) options. Whilst the Oracle JDK's current GC modes have been available since 1.4.x JDKs, there have been significant changes in the default settings and from 5.0 and in-built tuning algorithm. We will examine how the myriad garbage collection options work together and discover the pitfalls
-    With the support for 64-bit platforms, each provides many performance enhancements including multiple cores, extra hardware registers and 64-bit precision computations. However, not all platforms including IBM JVM on AIX, can realize the benefits of 64-bit. We'll highlight the downside for 64-bit in particular situations and discuss IBM JVM enhancement to reduce the 64-bit overhead as well as tuning tips specifically for IBM JVM
-    Learn how to make Oracle WebLogic Server perform to its potential without additional IT budget by collecting performance test data and analyzing them for common cause of performance issue
-    By the end of the workshop you will be able to tune Oracle WebLogic Server to run at extreme performance out of the box. For the most demanding, we can further improve this extreme performance by exploiting Exalogic (Oracle engineered system), and discuss the various optimizations that will truly demonstrate Oracle WebLogic Server extreme performance on Exalogic
