Understanding the 3 Oracle Logical Replication Concepts
This paper looks at the 3 replication principles of Oracle redo log mining as is being used by Golden Gate, Streams and other logical replication tools.
This is good grounding for DBAs, architects or developers that want to replicate data from one database to another. Be it for minimal downtime migration, real time reporting, data-warehousing, distributing of data, or relocating data to the cloud. This paper does not focus on any one particular Oracle replication product but explains the concepts that apply to all replication solutions so that a greater understanding is achieved and improved replication solutions are implemented. The paper also addresses conflicts, what they are and how to avoid them.
