Database Consolidation and RAC

With the release of 11gR2, is it becoming more possible to achieve true database consolidation (multiple applications in one DB) not just server consolidation (multiple databases on one server)??. We will explore the options, new features and remaining challenges DBA’s(and users) face when trying to consolidate and reduce the overall management of Oracle databases. Does RAC assist with consolidation challenges or just add to them?
