Integrating APEX Applications from Oracle Financials at an Application and Record Level

Outline: This session will display how to configure Oracle Financials to initiate an APEX application from the Oracle Financials Main Menu and also how to configure the system to open a specific record within an APEX application from a form within Oracle Financials.
Abstract: The University of Waikato recently implemented Oracle Projects to manage the Research Projects. Previously Research projects had been managed through a MicroSoft Access database, it was decided that rather than try to replicate the complicated structures and processes in Oracle Financials an application would be created in Application Express. This approach gave the Business Group autonomy while still conforming to the project goals. However as Oracle Projects still needed to be configured with the core project details it was decided a link was required from a project page within Oracle Financials to open the corresponding project in APEX. This session explains the approach that was taken and how Oracle Financials was configured to achieve this. In practice this approach could be adapted to link with any web service.
