Increasing pressure on organisations to reduce costs, consolidate their platforms, and reduce their datacentre footprint has driven the widespread adoption of virtualisation technologies. Oracle VM for x86 is Oracle’s Xen-based server virtualisation offering, and is the only x86 virtualisation platform certified to run Oracle products. Oracle VM for x86 allows organisations to build their own internal “cloud”, reduce cost, and support use cases which would not have previously been possible. Implementing Oracle VM is not without its challenges; being aware of its limitations and pitfalls can save time, and ensure the right expectations are set. Topics covered: - Planning your Oracle VM platform - Capacity Planning - Installation best-practices - Managing your Server Pools - High Availability - Management Tools - Backup & Recovery - New Features in Oracle VM 3.0 - Useful Resources
